Welcome to NASW Illinois

photoWe are pleased to welcome you to the new Web site for the National Association of Social Workers, Illinois Chapter (NASW IL). For those of you not familiar with NASW Illinois, we are the Illinois state chapter of NASW, a membership association of over 7,000 social workers and social work students throughout the state of Illinois.  The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with150,000 members. NASW Illinois works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

We hope that you will take the opportunity to explore the new Web site in the coming weeks and give us your views.

We believe that this new Web site offers cleaner presentation and easier navigation and therefore represents a significant improvement over our old Web site. Its ‘look and feel’ was deliberately designed so that it does not completely overshadow important new content. In creating the new pages of the site, the underlying philosophy has been to highlight important news and continuing educational events likely to be of interest to members, rather than governance structures (details about which are also easy to find). A new search right across the new site will provide swifter access to all the existing content, which has been moved across from the old Web site, and the new content which we will continue to solicit from our members. Archival information from over six years of our Networker are now indexed on the new site, giving you access to previous articles like never before. The new site serves as a promotional tool for the profession, a central location for advocacy news, as well as a guide to how our members can get more involved.

Despite hours of testing, inevitably there will be elements of the site that will need further development. Please feel free to share with us any issues you may have (or compliments on features you really like).
