All You Ever Wanted to Know about DBT but Were Too Afraid to Ask 

This Northeastern District CEU event will will talk about the structure and delivery of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), educate clinicians on the rationale for its use, discuss how to obtain training, how to recognize appropriate clients, and will provide examples of DBT in action.

All courses offered through the NASW-Illinois Chapter meet the continuing education qualifications for LSWs, LCSWs, LPCs, LCPCs, LMFTs, RNs, LPNs, APNs, and LCPs licensed in Illinois as required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Speaker: Dr. Kay Segal is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, DBT-Linehan Board of Certification Certified Clinician, and the Owner and Clinical Director of The Center for Mindfulness and Behavior Therapy, a full-package DBT Program on the North Shore of Chicago. She has extensive training and experience utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), was Advanced Intensively trained by Marsha Linehan, the developer of DBT, and was the first Linehan Board of Certification Certified DBT Clinician in the State of Illinois. She has published several articles and book chapters on the use of DBT.

Dr. Segal provides training in empirically supported treatments to clinical professionals, as well as consultation to DBT treatment teams. She works collaboratively with adolescents, adults, families, and couples utilizing evidence-based, proven interventions to treat disorders of emotion regulation, self-injury, school refusal, eating disorders, chronic suicidality, mood and personality disorders.

Dr. Segal is passionate about work and provides treatments with enthusiasm, humor, expertise, and a radically genuine approach. She believes each human being possesses their own ability to heal and, with a little experienced help, can move forward to a life of hope, courage, effectiveness and freedom. She holds her Masters and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and completed 4 years of Pre- and Post-doctoral training at The University of Chicago as the primary research therapist for multiple DBT studies.
