East Central District CEU Event: Almost Sunrise (Danville)

This East Central District CEU event will provide a screening of the documentary, Almost Sunrise, and will serve as a starting point for education and discussion of PTSD within the veteran community. A panel of experts will present. 

Registration for the event opens at 7:30am. The film showing and panel discussion will go from 8:00am to 12:00pm. 

All courses offered through the NASW-Illinois Chapter meet the continuing education qualifications for LSWs, LCSWs, LPCs, LCPCs, LMFTs, RNs, LPNs, APNs, and LCPs licensed in Illinois as required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

Speakers: Hilary Edgerly, LCSW received her MSW from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 2003. She began her career at VA Illiana Health Care System that same year. She has worked with a wide range of medical and psychological disorders effecting the Veteran population. She also spends much of her time mentor and coaching MSW students as the graduate education co-coordinator for Social Work Service since 2009. She currently works as the Acting Chief Social Work Service where she has administrative and clinical oversight and responsibility for over 50 social workers, nurses and support staff who provide care to Veterans in outpatient, inpatient and community settings.; Nina O'Brien, LCSW, RYT 200 currently works providing assessment and therapy services in the PTSD Clinic at Illiana VAMC. Nina graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology in 2003. She received a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois in 2008. Nina has worked in case management services with children and families. She has also spent time working abroad within the UK child welfare system. ; Abby Krout, LCSW provides clinical therapy in the PTSD Clinic at VA Illiana. Abby graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2007 and later graduated form the IUPUI School of Social Work in 2012. Abby has worked in community mental health as a case manager with adolescents and has provided clinical therapy in the community setting as well. Abby has worked primarily with clients experiencing domestic violence. As the Intimate Partner Violence program coordinator, she has sought to introduce services for Veterans struggling with the use of aggression in relationships and now coordinates and is trained in facilitating "Strength at Home", an evidence based intervention.; Chaplain Thomas Mills is the Chief of Chaplains for the VA Illiana Health Care System. He is an Ordained Bishop with the Church of God and has been in active ministry since 1982. Tom's heart was to serve the military churches and communities that could not afford a full time pastor. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1977 starting a career in Aircraft Maintenance specializing in Communication an dNavigation Systems. Since 1982, he has worked full time for the U.S. Air Force while serving as pastor in his off duty time. After serving 21 years in the military, Tom completed his Master of Divinity where he spent 4 years doing clinic student through the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. Tom joined the team at the VA Illiana Health Care system in 2007.
