Clinical Asst Prof - BSW Coord - Indiana University Northwest

Job Description

Indiana University Northwest is seeking to fill the position of BSW Field Coordinator in the School of Social Work to begin January 1, 2018 for a term of one year, renewable. This is a full-time, twelve month, non-tenure track faculty appointment that holds the rank of clinical assistant professor.

Major Responsibilities / Functions

Responsibilities include: recruiting, developing, and assessing field placement agencies primarily in northwest Indiana. The BSW Field Coordinator acts as an advisor throughout the student placement process and as an ongoing consultant to faculty liaisons, field instructors, and agency directors. In addition to coordination of all undergraduate field education experiences, the BSW Field Coordinator has instructional responsibilities of teaching 2-4 courses per calendar year and serves as an academic advisor to both undergraduate and graduate students. The BSW Field Coordinator reports to the Director on the Northwest campus in collaboration with the IUSSW Director of Field Education to assure compliance with all processes and procedures of the IUSSW and comparability of all curricular offerings. The primary appointment will be to the BSW program, however, the position may also provide consultation and support to the MSW Program as needed.

The School of Social Work on the IU Northwest campus currently offers a BSW program and a part-time evening MSW Program with concentrations in Mental Health and Addictions, Health, and School Social Work. The Indiana University School of Social Work began in 1911 and is the oldest university affiliated social work program in the nation. The MSW program on the IU Northwest campus began in 1996 and the BSW program began in 2010.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include: an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program plus a minimum of five years post-MSW full-time practice experience; familiarity with the northwest Indiana’s regional resources; a willingness to travel in the region; practice experience that reflects a generalist perspective (including clinical and macro competencies); experience supervising social work students as a field instructor; strong interpersonal communication and networking skills; administrative, organizational and problem-solving/mediation skills; university or agency teaching experience; team building/collaboration and managerial skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications include: a clinical social work license (LCSW), experience with event planning, experience with BSW level social work practice and/or education, and experience in online and distance education delivery methods.
