All courses offered through the NASW-Illinois Chapter meet the continuing education qualifications for LSWs, LCSWs, LPCs, LCPCs, LMFTs, RNs, APNs, LCPs, and LMFTs licensed in Illinois as required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). NASW-IL is also a Illinois State Board of Education-approved licensed professional development provider for PELs (formerly Type 73s) for school social workers.
The NASW-Illinois Chapter fulfills its mission of advancing the professional knowledge base of social workers by delivering state-of-the-art continuing education at the chapter office training center, virtually, and in districts across the state. The educational workshops provide an excellent opportunity for social workers to exchange ideas and information with colleagues and build professional relationships.
Utilizing the latest in instructional “blended learning” concepts, the NASW Illinois Chapter combines the strengths of e-training technologies with traditional classroom opportunities. The result—a powerful and comprehensive educational package proven to increase learning comprehension and retention for social workers.
The following states will accept CEUs from the NASW-Illinois Chapter continuing education offerings through the NASW CE Approval Program: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virgin Islands, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Our educational offerings (CEUs) include:
Live In-House Training
This is the traditional training format whereby attendees would arrive at the training center and would receive the materials from an interactive presentation with the presenter and other attendees. In-house trainings have the added advantage of allowing the attendees to network and have more of a connection with their instructor and other attendees.
Live Virtual Training
This is a live broadcast of the actual training center teaching. Those who cannot come to the training center can attend it from home or anywhere else in the world. Those who attend the class off-site will view the same Power Point presentation, listen to the same lecture, and will have the option to ask questions as if they were onsite.
This is a chance for social workers to come together and learn new skills and techniques, hear new and updated techniques to strengthen their practice, as well as to join together to promote our profession. The NASW-Illinois Chapter Statewide Conference averages from 15 to 19 CEUs, includes numerous networking opportunities, and offers access to social work-related vendors. This onsite training opportunity is THE event for social workers.
Associated Group Events
There are numerous events being presented around the state by the chapter either through direct sponsorship or co-sponsorship with other social work agencies. These events often offer free or affordable CEUs.
Requesting Old CEU Certificates
All CEU certificates for NASW-Illinois Chapter courses should be sent via e-mail or mail within 45 days after the event. Need another copy of a CEU certificate? There is a replacement fee for duplicate CEU certificate requests. Click here for pricing and to request a duplicate CEU certificate.
While we understand that emergencies do occur, once a participant has been registered and is expected to attend a course, the NASW-Illinois Chapter has already factored that person’s attendance into costs already absorbed by the chapter. Therefore our cancellation policy for our continuing education offerings is as follows (unless stated otherwise on the registration form or page):
- Cancellations received more than three (3) weeks out from a course shall be refunded in full to the participant at 100% cost.
- Cancellations received within three (3) weeks of the course are eligible for a partial refund. The participant may request a refund MINUS 20% of the course fee (used to help the chapter recoup event set-up costs) EXCEPT in the case of the LSW/LCSW Review Course (see next bullet).
- Cancellations received within three (3) weeks of an LCW/LCSW Review Course date are eligible to request to reschedule for $20.00 for one of the next three available review course dates.
- Any no show for a course without prior cancellation notification will not be eligible for a refund nor the option to attend a future course at the absorbed cost.
