Alexander Brown
Chicago District Chair
Alexander Brown, PhD, MBA, LCSW, is clinical director of Metropolitan Family Services, a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of social services to over 50,000 people annually in Cook and DuPage Counties. As clinical director, Alexander is responsible for all agency-wide clinical program development and standards, evaluation and continuous quality improvement, and accreditation. Alexander also maintains a private practice of psychotherapy in Evanston, IL, is a peer reviewer for the Council on Accreditation (COA), and teaches at Depaul University’s School of Public Service. In the past, he has served as executive director of a nonprofit that provided supportive housing to adults recovering from chronic mental illnesses; managed community-based programs that served older adults; and hospital-based crisis intervention, outpatient therapy, and employee assistance programs. He presents frequently to both professional and lay audiences on a wide range of topics related to both clinical and administrative matters. He has a masters’ degree from Simmons College School of Social Work in Boston, MA, a masters’ degree in business management from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, and a doctoral degree in clinical social work from the Institute for Clinical Social Work in Chicago.
