Board of Directors
Joan Richman Ente
Member At-Large
Joan Richman Ente, LCSW, ACSW, C-ASWCM, is a native New Yorker who attended Oberlin College. She worked very briefly in child welfare before enrolling at The University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration.
Joan has spent most of her career in agency-based practice. She was affiliated with United Charities (now Metropolitan Family Services) for over ten years, working as a family counselor, developing group programming and curricula, hiring staff, and consulting on school-based programs. She last served as director of staff development, designing in-service training programs for staff at all levels.
Interest in aging (and the big business of aging) led to Joan’s current position at Council for Jewish Elderly (CJE) SeniorLife. She is working to develop a private-pay geriatric care management practice embedded within this large nonprofit.
Joan is known as an excellent speaker and communicator. She writes a monthly column on aging issues for the Chicago Jewish News and often speaks to business and community groups. In private life, Joan has been active in her home community, Wilmette, and logged many hours of volunteer service to local schools. She is an active supporter of The Lilac Tree in Evanston and regularly assists with their information and referral interviews.
