Annual Report

Dear Illinois Chapter Members:

FY04 coincided with year one of the 2003-2006 Strategic Plan approved by the NASW IL Chapter Board of Directors in June of 2003. The Plan’s four strategic areas include Influence Social Policy, Enhance the Practice/Education Relationship, Promote the Profession, and Strengthen the Organization. Year one accomplishments include the establishment of a Media Task Force, chaired by 1st Vice President Kathy Wehrmann, planning for media training of NASW members, adopting the National NASW branding strategy and developing consistency of internet and print material, a strengthened student network, an increase in non-dues revenue and two foundation grants for the Retired Social Workers member initiative project.

Additional FY04 highlights include the February 23, 2004 Lobby Day with a record 600 people attending. Close to 500 social workers participated in the 3rd Annual Statewide Conference, September 10-12, 2003 in Arlington Heights. We continue to work with the State Legislature and State agencies to stress the importance of human services funding in times of economic decline. Our Chapter Investment Plan has been fully operationalized. The FY04 Audit was prepared by Hill, Taylor LLC, Certified Public Accountants.

The Chapter continues to serve its membership by being a significant resource for licensure information, CEUs and ethics issues. Additionally, the Chapter held 5 review courses in FY04 and co-sponsored scores of CEU events. Numerous CEU/networking events were held in all 11 Chapter state districts.

Thank you to all members and the NASW leadership who helped the Chapter reach its FY04 goals. I look forward to working with all of you in 2005 as NASW celebrates its 50th Anniversary. Best wishes for 2005.

 Sincerely,
Susan Razbadouski, ACSW, LCSW
Chapter President
