December 2016 - West Central Update

I need to first thank you for your patience and support as I have been recovering from the sudden loss of my husband in October.  I am beginning to look ahead and hope that you will join me in some of the interesting events coming up!  Please watch for future e-mails about two CEU events currently being finalized—they look to be interesting!

Welcome new members!  Please join me in welcoming our newest members:  Amy Humbles, Barbara Boddie, Julie Blythe, and Amy Leigh Bevins.  

Now is the time to recognize the leaders and mentors!  The 2017 SOCIAL WORK AWARDS are coming!!  This is a change from previous years when we had district awards—so let's work on getting our district leaders recognition!

We are searching for outstanding individuals whose work has supported the social work profession and the people it serves in four award categories: Social Worker of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Public Citizen of the Year, and Emerging Leader.

Join the Second Cohort of the Supervisory Leader in Aging Program and Earn 30 CEUs!
Deadline: Monday, January 16, 2017

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is excited to launch the Supervisory Leaders in Aging (SLA) program with generous funding from the John A. Hartford Foundation. Supervisory Leaders in Aging is designed to improve the delivery of health care and social services to older adults by strengthening the supervision of staff providing direct social services to older adults and their families. This innovative professional development program will be implemented as an educational offering providing 30 continuing education units (CEUs), including three units in cultural competency. Participants must be available to attend trainings beginning in March 2017. Trainings will consist of five full-day workshops (6 hours each day, 30 hours total).
