December 2017 - Calumet District Update

Christine Escobar-Sawicki

Happy Holiday Season, Calumet District Members,

It was wonderful to see some of you at the NASW-Illinois Chapter Statewide Conference in October. Calumet District was well represented in both attendees and presenters.

For many social workers, the holiday season brings a flurry of activity: not just your own planning, but planning holiday food/gift drives, working with clients who are dealing with holiday grief issues, substance use issues, mental health issues and other challenges holiday stress may exacerbate.  My wish for all of you is success in managing the stress of social work and the holidays - may you take the time to nurture yourself, relax and enjoy the little successes this holiday season has to offer.

And...post holiday season:  Networking in the New Year!

Following the success of our networking event in September, I hope you more of you are able to join us for  "Networking in the New Year!"  While enjoying light appetizers and soft drinks, come take a break for a few hours with other social workers.  This is a great chance to welcome new social workers to the profession, meet new connections, and hear about happenings in social work all over Illinois.

On Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Rock Bottom Brewery, 16156 S. LaGrange Road, Orland Park from 6:00 - 8:00 pm

NASW Members - free, Non-members: $10
