January 2018 - Jane Addams District Update

Carol H. Fisher, LCSW

Happy New Year!  Three items you should know about upcoming events impacting the Jane Addams District:

We're are launching a Private Practice Forum on January 23rd, 7:30 a.m. at Johnny Pamcakes, 3700 E. State St, Rockford. Members in private practice have requested a regular networking meeting and Tuesday mornings turn out to be a time that those surveyed could attend.  We'll get a big table (breckfast on your own if you choose) and discuss issues impacting private practice. This group is designed to help us start, grow, refine, and improve our practices.  Bring your business cards, ideas, and issues and plan to meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  Members who aspire to start a private practice are welcome.  Note that this is NOT designed to be a clinical consultation group.

Save the date of April 11th for Social Work Advocacy Day in Springfield.  Details are elsewhere in this issue.  We may arrange a carpool if there is enough interest.  Our voices matter both as advocates for our clients and for ourselves.

In June I will be finishing my term as District Chair.  Consider whether this might be a position for you.  I promise that you will meet amazing people, you'll be able to influence our professional association, and you'll learn a ton.
