Mandate Revised and First Meeting Held by the Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity

The Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity chaired by President Elect Giesela Grumbach held its first meeting on October 27, 2004 at the Chapter office. The mandate printed below was reviewed and updated 10-17-04. Those attending the meeting discussed how they could function in a meaningful way benefiting members as well as client populations. Toward that end, it was suggested that the committee’s main function be to promote the issue of cultural competency within the Chapter. The Committee has decided to disseminate cultural competency information in several different ways via the Networker, the website and trainings at the District level. A second meeting of this committee via conference call was held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004.
