February 2012 - Southern District Update
The Southern District continues to request nominations for social work awards and District Chair
It is not too late to submit your nominations for the annual NASW Illinois Chapter Social Work Awards in the Southern District. It is very simple to submit a fellow co-worker, supervisor, or friend for social worker of the year, lifetime achievement, or public citizen of the year. The process is much easier to nominate someone than in years past. Please take a moment to recognize a deserving NASW member or citizen at www.naswil.org/news/chapter-awards/. Deadline is Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
Also the Southern District Chair position is up for election this year so if you are interested in a leadership position, this is your opportunity. As a district chair you, also serve on the NASW Illinois Chapter Board of Directors. This is a very exciting and rewarding experience. Nominate a colleague or even yourself at http://www.naswil.org/volunteer/join-the-board/. Deadline is Tuesday, January 31, 2012
Social Work Month (March) is quickly approaching, and this is also the month for Advocacy Day. This year it is on March 29, 2012. For more info visit http://www.naswil.org/advocacy/advocacy-day/ .
Keep in mind that the Southern District will be hosting a special evening and CEU event for Social Work Month in March. Details will be forthcoming in a future e-mail to members. Also watch for it to be posted on the Southern District page.
Finally the NASW Illinois Chapter and the Southern District would like to make a warm welcome to new members: Mathew Bauman, Catherine Dye, Stephanie McCluskey, Michael Davis, Patricia Gumz, and Brittany Day.
