July 2013 - West Central District Update

It is hard to believe that spring has sprung and summer is upon us. We are days from the fourth of July.


Here is some information about what is currently happening in the NASW Illinois Chapter:

  • NASW Illinois is currently looking for nominees for the 2013 Emerging Leader Awards: The NASW Illinois Chapter is looking to recognize young social workers making a difference in the field. The deadline for all nominations is September 13, 2013. Nominate someone today!
  • Don’t forget the 2013 statewide conference! The 2013 NASW Illinois Chapter Statewide Conference is now accepting registrants! You can earn up to 19 CEUs in just three days. For more information, go to the conference website:


NASW Illinois Chapter has initiated a campaign to raise awareness about the role of social workers in our communities? Many social workers in the state have posted their profiles to share with the public. To view this current profile of Lauren Peche or to post your own profile, go to


I would really like to hear from the members of the West Central District. As I begin my second two-year term, I would like to do more to engage our membership. I am happy to work on connecting members of our district, but I need some suggestions. Please e-mail me and let me know your ideas.
