Mandated Commitees: are an ongoing committee mandated by the bylaws of the association (Article IX, Section B) These committees focus on the long‐term needs of the association as identified by the Board of Directors and the strategic plan. A committee must have a direct charge from the Board of Directors to accomplish long term and ongoing needs of the Board of Directors.
Executive Commitee Committee consisting of officers of the board.
Finance Commitee Committee consisting of the Treasurer and selected members to review the financial reports of the association.
Chapter Committee on Nominations & Leadership Identity (CCNLI) Nominations are being accepted throughout the year, please review your networker for current updates.
Chapter Ethics Committee Considers complaints of alleged violations of the NASW Code of Ethics, an employer's personnel standards, or the right of social workers to professional action on behalf of clients.
Committee on Diversity and Cultural Competence Provides opportunities for professional growth and cross-cultural exchange while addressing issues and policies of the Chapter with respect to its diverse membership.
Membership Committee Works on improving membership benefits and numbers.
Political Action Committee (PAC) The political action arm of NASW-IL.

Shared Interest Groups: are formal organizational units of NASW IL, created and maintained by members with similar social work related interests. Through the SIGs, members can pursue narrower, substantive subjects, while NASW IL focuses on the broader interests of the larger membership base.

The purpose of each Shared Interest Group shall include but not be limited to: 1) advising the Board of Directors or the Association staff, when requested, on matters pertaining to the Group's Shared interest or area; 2) organizing programs for such interests and areas including programs at Conferences of the Association; 3) collecting and disseminating information concerning its Shared interest; 4.) to provide a structure or means through which all members of NASW IL, having a shared interest in the disciplines covered by the SIG, may share their professional activities and studies, through meetings, publications, and other organized activity.

SIGs shall be governed and operate under the board approved SIG Manual.

Mental Health SIG Provides professional support and education to Illinois Clinical Social Workers who serve persons with mental illnesses and their families.
Retired Social Worker SIG Brings Retired Social Workers (RSWs) back to the field of professional social work.
International Activities SIG Creates opportunities for international exchanges, breaking down boundaries and addressing global social work issues.
Student Network SIG Provides support and networking opportunities to Illinois Social Work Students.
Mediator's SIG Promotes social workers as mediators and provides networking and education opportunities.
Aging SIG To establish social work as a primary discipline in aging services in Illinois.  To attract committed social workers, qualified and trained in the field of agin.
