To
develop a statewide collaboration of
social work schools for the primary
purpose of increasing student
participation and communication
between the NASW-IL Chapter,
Graduate & Undergraduate student
representatives on the IL Chapter
Board of Directors, and social work
students in Illinois.
Council/Network Responsibilities and
Functions
The
Network will consist of accredited
and non-accredited social work
schools in Illinois, with at least
one student liaison representing
each school. Communication between
the chapter and liaisons will be in
the form of electronic mail and
conference calls. The mediator for
all communication will be through
the current NASW Illinois Chapter
intern(s) unless stated otherwise.
The Network will also meet annually
at a specified event to connect with
one another, share ideas and develop
future goals.
Subcommittees within the Student
Network will be created as needed in
order to achieve the stated goals.
This will only occur with the
approval of the NASW Illinois
Chapter’s Executive Director.
Members of subcommittees will
consist of current student liaisons
within the Student Network. The
number of members on each
subcommittee will vary depending on
the nature and magnitude of the
specified goals, objectives, and
tasks.
Student liaison responsibilities
include:
1. Promoting NASW
membership among students at their
school.
2. Educating students on the ways to
become actively involved in NASW.
3. Communicating the benefits of
participating in events such as
Lobby Day, the
NASW Statewide Conference, and other
planned social outings.
4. Contributing ideas on ways to
improve the Student Network a well
as providing suggestions on
activities that should be included.
5. Developing content to include on
the Student Page.
6. Identifying students to write
articles for the student column in
the NASW Networker.
