June 2022 - Jane Addams District Update
Patricia Schofield, Jane Addams District Chair
Hello Jane Addams District Members
Summer really is on its way. Happy Summer! I hope this finds all of you energized and ready for many days of outdoor fun activities.
Membership is what keeps our chapter strong and able to provide personal support and advocacy for multiple services. Please know how much we appreciate you as members, and welcome to all our new members.
Special thanks to Jonathan D. Nye for his outstanding presentation on Confidentiality Requirements and Exceptions. We had good attendance and, as usual, Jonathan’s presentation was priceless. If you missed it, go to https://www.naswil.org/events at the bottom of the page and you will find it listed under Recorded CE Trainings. The handouts are valuable.
Social Work Award Nominations are being accepted for the annual NASW Illinois Chapter Social Work Awards. Consider reviewing the nomination form as it will assist you in recognizing who deserves this honor. The categories are Social Worker of the Year, Lifetime Achievement, Public Citizen, Emerging Leader. It would be awesome to have a winner form our Jane Addams District! The deadline is July 31st. https://www.naswil.org/post/accepting-nominations-for-the-2022-social-work-awards
Thank you for taking the time to vote in this year's 2022 NASW-Illinois Chapter Elections during the month of April. Please take a moment to give recognition to the individuals who will be representing you on the NASW-Illinois Chapter Board of Directors starting July 1, 2021. https://www.naswil.org/post/2022-nasw-illinois-chapter-elections-1
My time as NASW-Illinois Chapter Jane Addams District Chair comes to an end on June 30th. In the future, please consider joining the board. I can’t tell you how rewarding board participation has been for me. I extremely enjoyed the first two years of planning events across our district, making new friends, and meeting up with so many old friends. Sadly, because of COVID, the last two years had to be virtual, but we made the best of it and enjoyed some good times. Hopefully as we begin a new fiscal year on July 1st, we may soon be able to start in-person events. Again, thanks to all of you for allowing me to serve as your district chair.
My best to all of you,
Jane Addams District Chair
