October 2019 - Three Rivers District Update

Diana Alejandro, Three Rivers District Update

Greetings Fellow Three Rivers Social Workers!

Fall has officially arrived. The days are getting shorter, temperatures will soon be getting cooler, and we’ll be preparing for ghosts and goblins.

WELCOME to our district’s new members:

Elizabeth Bravo, Daryl Pierce and Lara Mangialardi

Thank you to those who attended our September 11th networking event in Oak Park. It was great meeting all of you. I’m sure we will do it again soon.

Our October networking and CEU event, “Moving from Cultural Competency to Cultural Humility,” will be held in Aurora at the Pomegranate Restaurant on October 9, 2019, and is currently sold out. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there!

If you weren’t able to get into the event, don’t fret, you have the opportunity to attend this year’s 2019 NASW-Illlinois Chapter Statewide Conference: A Meeting of the Professions. The event will be held at The Westin North Shore in Wheeling from November 5 to 7. You’ll have the opportunity to earn up to 20 CEUs including cultural competency and ethics in time for licensure renewal. https://naswil.org/post/registration-open-2019-nasw-illinois-chapter-statewide-conference.

Do you still have questions regarding licensure renewal? Check out these FAQs at https://www.naswil.org/post/faq-on-2019-licensure-renewal-it-s-time-to-renew-your-license

The member referral campaign launched by National is in its last month. Reach out to colleagues who are not current members or have let their membership lapse. Remember you’ll receive a valuable gift. Let’s make our organization the best it can be by having our fellow social workers join us. https://www.naswil.org/post/nasw-member-referral-campaign-july-2019-october-2019

Best,

-Di

I really enjoyed reading about the updates and initiatives in the Three Rivers District. It’s clear how much effort goes into improving communication and engagement within the community. It made me think about how innovative tools like custom wooden QR codes could enhance outreach efforts, whether for events, resource sharing, or district updates. They combine functionality with a unique aesthetic, making them perfect for blending information with style. Adding QR codes to community materials or event setups can make accessing important information even more convenient while leaving a lasting impression. It’s always inspiring to see communities adopt creative ways to connect and grow!
