Update on IDFPR Licensure Renewal for LSWs/LCSWs
Updated: 3 days ago
10/21/21 UPDATE: Read our latest article on IDFPR's renewal extension here.
10/15/21 UPDATE: The department has indicated that they are still transitioning to a new renewal system and that, "...each licensee will be sent an e-mail when the system is up and running. The Call Center is available to assist anyone having difficulties, but many licensees in other professions have renewed successfully without Call Center assistance. At this time a Variance to the expiration date has not been issued; however, that is an option that will be discussed should it need be.” The NASW-Illinois Chapter will continue to monitor the renewal site and will update this page accordingly when the LSW and LCSW licenses have been added for renewal.
It has been brought to the chapter's attention that the renewal page on the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) website does not yet show licensed social workers (LSWs) and licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs) as being yet active for renewal. We are currently in discussions with the department regarding when these licenses should go live for renewal. We have been informed that the department is transitioning to a new renewal system that should work better and more closely with their licensing database—as such, there has been a delay, but they have informed us that they anticipate the renewal link to go live soon.
Check back with department renewal page in another week to see if the licenses have been added, or stay tuned to the NASW-Illinois Chapter "News" page for updates! Don't forget that NASW-Illinois Chapter membership lends power to our voice when working with the licensing department and conveying that information in return to our members to keep them well-informed.
