Chicago Welcomes NASW National to

the City of Big Shoulders!

For the first time ever, the NASW National Conference is coming to the Midwest! Come celebrate our 70 year anniversary and our legacy as a profession as we look to developing the future. This year's 2025 NASW National Conference will be taking place on June 15–19, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in downtown Chicago.

These special pre-conference sessions are being held alongside the 2025 NASW National Conference at the host hotel, and open to both registrants and non-registrants of the national conference. Registration for this training entitles you to access to the pre-conference sessions on Sunday, June 15, 2025, only. If you wish to attend the 2025 NASW National Conference in full, please register for the conference separately.

Becoming an Antiracist Social Worker

Description: This interactive workshop will come with assigned pre-work and educate participants about the language of race and the reality of institutional racism in the 21st Century. It will equip participants to identify ways that institutional racism impacts clinical practice, and empower participants to practice in a way that counteracts institutional racism in their agency, as well as the larger community.

About the Presenters: Marion Malcome, MSW, LCSW, PhD, and Briton Holmberg, MSW, LCSW, MDiv, have been empowering mental health clinicians and organizations to become more anti-racist since 2013. Together, they have over 2 decades of combined experience in the mental health field including the areas of community mental health, private practice, research, and college wellness centers. Their workshops are always engaging, challenging, and worthwhile.

Description: Come brush up your supervision knowledge and skills with our highly acclaimed trainer and NASW-MN Executive Director, Dr. Karen Goodenough. Whether you’re new to supervising or have years of experience - in clinical or macro practice or anywhere in between - you’ll learn new things to boost your supervision practice!

About the Presenter: Karen E. Goodenough, PhD, MSW, LGSW, has been Executive Director of the National Association of Social Workers - Minnesota Chapter since 2018. She received her BSW from St. Olaf College, MSW from Augsburg University, and PhD in social work from the University of Minnesota. Dr. KG is a skilled supervisor, trainer, and macro practitioner. She has worked in direct practice, non-profit program management, and consulted in evaluation, data utilization, and strategic planning. She has supervised, coached, and trained interns, volunteers, contractors, board members, and staff from various professional backgrounds, and has provided hundreds of hours of training in such areas as supervision, ethics, policy advocacy, leadership, budgeting, evaluation, and research. She has also served as adjunct faculty in numerous BSW and MSW programs throughout Minnesota. Dr. KG has focused much of her research and advocacy efforts on social work licensure and regulation, and Chairs the NASW Licensure Taskforce and represents NASW on the Social Work Interstate Compact Commission.
