CO-SPONSORSHIP: Friday 07.12.19 - How Trauma Impacts Memory: Exploring the Sexual Assault Accusations of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford Against Judge Brett Kavanaugh (Champaign)
The date of this event was changed from June 21, 2019, to July 12, 2019. Many of us in the mental health and healing arts field are confused about the science of remembering trauma. Using Dr. Christine Blasey sexual assault accusations as a starting point, this workshop will provide an overview of the research and model for determining the authenticity of trauma memories key concepts such as central and peripheral details implicit and explicit memory, state and context dependent memory, and the 3 stages of memory processing will be presented. Also, a brief look at the history dating back to the late 19th century related to trauma and memory will be explored. Ample time will be allowed for questions and discussion. Format will be PowerPoint presentation with video examples, live demonstration and group participation. Participants will specifically learn about the use of the Heartmath EmWave program and the use of guided imagery in the treatment of trauma.
