NASW Congratulates Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for her Historic Nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court

WASHINGTON, DC—The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) congratulates Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson for her historic nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Biden. If confirmed, Judge Brown Jackson will be the first Black woman to serve on the Court. For nearly a decade, she has served as a fair-minded jurist on both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and D.C. District Court where she has upheld the rights of all people. She has an excellent reputation as a judge, and her experience as a federal public defender and on the U.S. Sentencing Commission will serve to enhance the perspectives to the Court.

NASW applauds President Biden for nominating Judge Brown Jackson. Her talent, expertise, and vision of justice will be instrumental in transforming the Court. This nomination is a long-overdue step toward a Court that better reflects the America it serves.

NASW calls on the U.S. Senate to move quickly to confirm Judge Brown Jackson and to help build a Supreme Court that is committed to equal justice.
