The NASW-Illinois Chapter Ethics Committee (NASW-IL EC) is seeking new members. This is a great opportunity for chapter members to guide and lead the chapter in the exploration of new territory and expanding our vision in all ethical areas. By joining the Ethics Committee, you aren’t just interpreting rules—you are building the resources, leading the training, and driving the advocacy that protects both our clients and our peers.

About the CEC
The NASW-Illinois Chapter Ethics Committee (NASW-IL EC) promotes the quality and effectiveness of social work practice. The NASW-IL EC aids in providing understanding of our code of ethics in ethical dilemmas raised by the board, committee, and persons in the community. The NASW-IL EC is able to provide education and training to NASW members in coordination with the National Ethics Committee (NEC) and the Office of Professional Review (OEPR). Professional review is a collaborative process between chapters and the national office to provide a peer review of alleged unethical conduct of its members. Volunteers from the NASW-IL EC may represent the chapter in the proceedings of the National Ethics Committee, particularly those concerning Illinois state social workers.
The NASW-IL EC is responsible for hearing and recommending action on complaints filed in accordance with the association’s policy on jurisdiction of grievances. Volunteers from the NASW-IL EC may represent the chapter in the proceedings of the National Ethics Committee. Personal ethics consultations will be provided through the National Ethics Committee warmline.
