December 2024 Developments

On December 3, 2024, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas issued a nationwide preliminary injunction temporarily pausing enforcement of the CTA and its implementing regulations and pausing all CTA compliance deadlines. On December 5, 2024, the federal government appealed the preliminary injunction. This means that the deadline to file BOI reports is temporarily paused, and for now, reporting companies do not need to comply with the CTA’s BOI reporting deadlines until the Texas court issues a further order.
