NASW-IL Legislative Bill Tracker Now LIVE!

New this year, the NASW-Illinois Chapter has purchased a product that allows for real-time access to the bills the chapter is currently tracking for the current Illinois legislative session. The NASW-Illinois Chapter Bill Tracker provides a list of the countless legislative proposals the chapter is currently monitoring or has taken a stance on during the current legislative session (116 in this session alone!).

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: The NASW-Illinois Chapter Bill Tracker report will be updated at intervals to reflect the addition or removal of bills as the legislative session progresses. Additionally, the report does not encompass ALL legislation that the NASW-Illinois Chapter has an opinion on; namely it excludes so-called “nuisance bills”—bills we would contest should they gain momentum but whose likelihood of advancing is minimal. Additionally, it should be noted that some bills are listed as opposed, not necessarily because the association is against them in principle but rather due to a desire for amendments.  Several bills shown in the NASW-Illinois Chapter Bill Tracker report are accompanied by counterpart bills in the opposite chamber and feature identical language. Due to spatial constraints, not all bills are paired with their corresponding chamber bills in the report. And finally, please note that our positions on these bills may evolve as amendments are introduced.

To find a bill in the report, go to our Bill Tracker page where you’ll see an embedded report which lists the current status of most of the bills we’re tracking. Continue scrolling down in the report to find a detailed list of all the bills we’re tracking. The report includes whether the chapter supports the bill, its current status, a description of the bill, and more.

Some of the bills listed in the report will be featured during next month’s 2024 NASW-Illinois Chapter Advocacy Day which will be returning to Springfield in person for the first time since 2019. To join us on this important day of social work advocacy for the profession, register now; deadline is Friday, April 5th!

IMPORTANT NOTE: This report includes AI-generated forecasts and voting records. It is important to note that the accuracy of these AI-generated components is NOT verified, and they SHOULD NOT be considered reliable. We have initiated a request to have these features removed from the report but until these modifications are implemented, we strongly advise against relying on the AI-generated forecasts and voting records as factual information.
