August 2019 - Northeastern District Update

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Lynn Zakeri

Northeastern District Chair

August is never as quiet as I think it is going to be, but it is still summer so that helps the mentality of rest and relaxation. I hope your summer has been treating you well too.

I am generating quite a list of speakers and topics for the rest of 2019 and going into 2020 already. I have great speakers, great topics, but the venue is sometimes the challenge. If you know of venues you want to suggest, send them my way!

We are finishing off the summer months with our August 23rd CEU event in Des Plaines at City Hall. It is about bipolar disorder, and while it is currently sold out, I encourage you put yourself on the waitlist if you are interested as people’s schedules may change and they may cancel their registration.

We also have an interesting cultural competency event scheduled in October. Since it is about cultural humility, I thought it was a good topic for our self-care formats at Curt’s Café in Evanston. Same deal: Sold out but waitlist because you never know…

While the website is still having a bit of technical difficulties, you can see all of our upcoming NASW-Illinois Chapter events here: https://www.naswil.org/events

As always, drop me an e-mail if you have questions or concerns. I am looking forward to seeing all of you at events soon!
