2024 Social Work Rule Changes

The Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) met on May 14, 2024, and approved changes made by the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR) to the Administrative Code sections that apply to social work. These changes will have implications for new and existing social workers. You can read about the major changes that have taken effect here. Updates will be reflected on the NASW website in the near future. (


2024 Federal Requirements for IL Social Workers

At the beginning of the year, the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) went into effect, affecting the work of social workers across the United States. This new law requires certain companies (including LLCs, PLLCs, LLPs, LLLPs, and more) formed or operating in the US to report information about their beneficial owners to the US Department of Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
