March 2020 - East Central District Update
Mary Garrison, LCSW, ACSW, East Central District Chair

Happy Social Work Month 2020 – Social Workers: Generations Strong! I hope you will all celebrate our amazing profession and this month…and celebrate YOU! Thank you for all you do to change our world.
As we enter a new decade, it is important to look back and honor the powerful, positive impact the social work profession has had on our society for generations. We also want to spotlight the life-affirming work that social workers from all generations — from the Greatest Generation to Generation Z — are doing. And since NASW is celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2020, Social Work Month is a great opportunity to remind social workers of the important work NASW has been doing for decades and the need to join.
Welcome to our newest members and to those that have renewed your membership – we are so glad you are a part of the NASW-Illinois Chapter family.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Submit a proposal: https://naswil.wufoo.com/forms/call-for-proposals-2020-naswil-ethics-conference/
DEADLINE: Monday, April 27, 2020
The NASW-Illinois Chapter is opening a call for ethics presentations that are creative, interactive, and audience-engaged. We’re searching for dynamic presenters who can lead social workers through discussions and peer-sharing about topics relating to ethics. Presentations can be from 60, 90, or 120 minutes in length and must fulfill IDFPR requirements for ethics education. We want ethics to be fun—as such we are strongly discouraging lecture-only based presentations. Read more here: https://www.naswil.org/post/call-for-proposals-2020-nasw-il-conference
