March 2021 - East Central District Update

Mary Garrison, LCSW, ACSW East Central District Chair

Happy Social Work Month 2021 – Social Worker are ESSENTIAL! I hope you will all celebrate our amazing profession and this month…and celebrate YOU! Thank you for all you do to change our world.

“Social workers are essential to community well-being. As practitioners, social workers are trained to help people address personal and systemic barriers to optimal living. They are employed to effect positive change with individuals, families, groups and entire communities. During Social Work Month take time to learn more about the many positive contributions of the profession, and use the items in our toolkit to celebrate all the social workers you know.”

Please welcome our newest members and those that have renewed their membership – we are so glad you are a part of the NASW-Illinois Chapter family.

Join the NASW-IL Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee!

We’re looking for social work leaders who are passionate about creating equitable spaces for others by serving on the NASW-Illinois Chapter Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (NASW-IL DEIC). Members of the committee will serve as an advisory group to the chapter to further NASW’s mission to promote cultural diversity and social equity among the marginally oppressed populations. Call for Presenters! 2021 NASW Chapters Conference

The NASW-Illinois Chapter is opening a call for presentations that are creative, interactive, and audience-engaged. We are seeking one-hour presentations that are creative, interactive, and audience-engaged. Proposals should have dynamic presenters who can lead social workers through discussions and peer-sharing about topics relating to social work practice and must fulfill IDFPR requirements for CEU education.
