May 2020 - Jane Addams District Update
Patricia Schofield, Jane Addams District Chair
Hello Jane Addams District Members,
Happy May Day to all as we spring forward through another 30 days of shelter in place. As social workers, we know how important our work is, but in the wake of this pandemic social workers are front line heroes. Know we are so proud and thankful for all of you.
Welcome to all our new members, and a big thank you to all renewing members. Your membership is what keeps our chapter strong and able to provide support and multiple services. Thank you and congratulations to our leaders for the quick response of the NASW and NASW-Illinois Chapter to get pandemic information out to members as well as setting up guidance and trainings on telehealth, a tool that will continue be utilized after the pandemic.
Also, the NASW-Illinois Chapter is discussing with IDFPR waiving the CEU in-person requirement. While continuing to advocate for this, we are encouraging to work toward the 15 online CEU credits currently permitted utilizing the newly developed NASW-Illinois Chapter Virtual Trainings: https://www.naswil.org/events
From last month, another idea is bringing our district members together in a virtual gathering using a virtual meeting software. Please let me know if you would like to participate. I think it would be a great way for getting to know each other, provide mutual support, and share resources and community news. Please just a quick e-mail to let me know you are interested. email@example.com
Please consider reviewing the Social Work Awards Nomination Form as it will assist you in recognizing colleagues who deserve to be nominated. The deadline is July 31. https://www.naswil.org/chapter-awards
