November 2022 - Chicago District Update

NASW-IL Staff

Michael Mallory, Chicago District Chair

Happy fall, Chicago!

I cannot believe that we are now venturing into the holiday season and nearing winter! Hopefully many of you have been able to enjoy some of the comfortable weather we have been having as of late! Knowing that this time of year can be difficult for many, I encourage all of you to exercise self-compassion and grace to help manage the challenges to come.

While we march into November, I am hoping to see many of you at the NASW-Illinois Chapter Hybrid Conference. I will be attending in person and welcome all of you to come say hello! Personally, I am very excited to be able to attend this conference so that I can knock out some of these special CEU requirements as well as be able to network with all of you!

Please review the section below as there are various important updates. An additional section is related to loan forgiveness opportunities that may be helpful for you and your broader networks.

While every election seems pivotal, the upcoming election will greatly determine the future of social work and human services in Illinois. Many of the crucial decisions that impact funding for human services, reforms for DCFS and DOC, and protections for our clients in the state will be made by leaders elected by Illinois citizens on November 8th. Therefore, it is crucial to endorse candidates who support legislation and policies consistent with the goals of the social work profession. This is a super important update as our 2023 renewal is rather complex due to new CEU requirements. That said, the NASW-IL team has put together a helpful article that expands more about these changes. Please review this as there are some new expectations. Click ME to read about these changes.
