November 2023 - Chicago District Update

Michael Mallory, MSW, LCSW, Chicago District Chair

My dearest colleagues,

Like all of you, I was shocked by the early winter we experienced yesterday! I’m hoping all of you were able to make it home safely and able to enjoy some comfort food! Those with little ones, I hope you and your families had a safe and enjoyable Halloween holiday.

As we trek onward into November I want to share one last reminder to renew your licenses! Those of you who are seeking last minutes CEUs please don’t forget about our digital library where you can access various pre-recorded trainings. Click ME if you want to check out the library. Also, do not forget there are specialty CEUs that we need to account for outside of our traditional ethics and cultural competency requirements. If you are unsure of what is needed please review our website for more information.

Student Loan Forgiveness:

While we did not receive a broader reaching loan forgiveness opportunity there have been other efforts from our government leaders to address student loan debt in the nation. That said, the implementation of the SAVE repayment plan is a way that the government is attempting to address student loan debt. Please review the student aid website for further information. Click here.

For those of you working in community mental health, there is a wonderful opportunity being provided through the Community Behavioral Health Care Professional loan repayment program. This offers a partial repayment for LCSW professionals working in this type of setting. For more information please read our story here.
