October 2019 - East Central District Update
Mary Garrison, East Central District Chair
Hello to all – welcome to Fall! I want to welcome our newest member to NASW-IL and the East Central District:
It is a busy time of year for all, and your LSW/LCSW licenses are up for renewal this year on 11/30/19! You should have received an email about renewal by now. Please see the FAQ on 2019 Licensure Renewal: It’s Time to Renew Your License! https://www.naswil.org/post/faq-on-2019-licensure-renewal-it-s-time-to-renew-your-license
We want to increase our membership in Illinois, and NASW National has launched a member referral campaign. Refer a new or former NASW member, and get a special gift: https://www.naswil.org/post/nasw-member-referral-campaign-july-2019-october-2019
This month our NASW-Illinois Chapter leaders participated in the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) release webinar of the Integrating Social Care into the Delivery of Health Care: Moving Upstream to Improve the Nation’s Health http://nationalacademies.org/socialcare. The following are direct links to various report materials you may find valuable:
PDF of the report itself: attached here, or login and download at https://www.nap.edu/catalog/25467/integrating-social-care-into-the-delivery-of-health-care-moving
Social media toolkit (some cool infographics in here for us!): http://nationalacademies.org/hmd/Reports/2019/integrating-social-care-into-the-delivery-of-health-care/social-media-toolkit.aspx
NASW-Illinois Chapter member Robyn Golden, Associate Vice President, Population Health and Aging at Rush University Medical Center, was on the committee that developed this report and was instrumental in making sure that the social work workforce plays a prominent role in the report and recommendations.
