September 2022 - East Central District Update

Melissa Box, LCSW, LSOE, LSOTP East Central District Chair

Two Events, Twice the Fun! I am thrilled to announce we have TWO events planned in the next couple months, and I hope you can come to one or both! The first is a virtual educational event focusing on Self-Care for Social Workers, provided by Genesis Hall, LCSW, an experienced clinician and trainer. Join us for an hour on Zoom to learn practical strategies that you can customize and apply to your own day-to-day practice. You will leave this training with a concrete self-care plan and a better understanding of how to take care of YOU. For registration information, click here: https://naswil.wufoo.com/forms/zd7j79l1vcd01n/ Our second event is also our first IN-PERSON event in two years! We’ve never met in-person since I started as the East Central District Chair in 2021, and I would love to get to know you all! East Central District social workers, please join us for tasty tarts and coffee, a chance to visit, network, and learn about the awesome work being done by social workers across our region. We’ll be at The Tasty Tart in Champaign, IL, on Friday October 14, 2022! To sign up, click here: https://naswil.wufoo.com/forms/zg2ga0p0wsv0gr/. (Registrants will be contacted prior to the event for your personal tart and drink orders!)

Register Today! 2022 NASW-Illinois Chapter Hybrid Conference Registration is open for our hybrid fall conference! This hybrid format will offer in-person CEUs on November 17, 2022, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lisle Naperville in Lisle, IL, and live virtual CEUs on Thursday, December 1, 2022, via Zoom Events. Earn up to 6.0 CEUs for either, or attend both as a hybrid attendee for up to 10.5 CEUs. Find out more at http://naswmeets.org/. Feedback on Social Work Compact Still Needed! There is still limited time to submit you feedback on the initial draft of the Social Work Compact as released by the Council of State Governments (CSG). In light of recent reports on the biased nature of ASWB exams and how it affects the Interstate Licensure Compact, please note that the initial draft of the Social Work Compact as released by the Council of State Governments (CSG) currently requires passage of the ASWB bachelors, masters, and clinical exams as well as a federal background check. If you believe these requirements are of concern, please submit your feedback in the CSG survey here. Learn more about the Social Work Compact here. IDFPR Licensure Updates Questions about licensure requirements and in-person CEUs still remains the top questions from our members! If you haven’t already checked out our in-depth article about IDFPR requirements for the 2021–2023 licensure cycle, be sure to read it here: https://www.naswil.org/post/idfpr-licensure-renewal-requirements-for-2021-2023 Thank you, Melissa Box, LCSW, LSOE, LSOTP
