Hello Jane Addams District Members,

It is summertime! I hope this finds all of you energized and ready for lots of outdoor fun activities.

Please know how much we appreciate you all. NASW membership is what keeps our chapter strong and able to provide support and advocate for multiple services. So, thank you all and Welcome to all our new members.

Save this date: July 21, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:30am we will be hosting a webinar titled, "Effects of a Pandemic on Mental Health/Substance Abuse." The presentation will focus on the impact of the global pandemic (COVID-19) on individuals' mental health and recovery from substance(s). Throughout the pandemic, overdose and suicide rates have increased exponentially as resources have been limited and supports that were vital to recovery have been removed/transitioned to virtual, placing individuals with co-occurring disorders in a high-risk situation. The impact of stigma, guilt, shame, and limited access to resources during this time will be discussed as well as identifying what support looks like for people during this time.

Our Presenter: Justin Wolfe, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) with quality experience and training in addictions, rehabilitation, domestic violence and persistent mental illness with adolescents, adults, and families. He has provided numerous trainings in schools and throughout the community to increase awareness about dual diagnosis and adolescent substance use prevention. Justin is the Manager of Outpatient Addiction Services at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health Naperville, Illinois.
