November 2019 - Three Rivers District Update

Diana Alejandro, Three Rivers District Update

Grateful for Three Rivers

November is the month where we celebrate our veterans for their sacrifices so that we can live without worry or fear. It is also the time of the year when we begin planning for the holidays and giving thanks for our family and friends that we get to share our lives with.

I am grateful for being actively involved with the Three Rivers District and such a wonderful group of social workers. For all that participated in our October networking and CEU event, thank you for your participation and making it a huge success. I look forward to sharing time with you all at the upcoming NASW-Illinois Chapter Statewide Conference.

WELCOME our district’s new member: Siobhan Sheil

NASW-IL Conference: A Meeting of the Professions. The time has finally arrived, and I hope you are as excited as I am. There will be lots of presentations that are certain to engage everyone’s needs. NASW Illinois MyNASW Community Launches!

This fall, the chapter took part in a pilot program in creating a new discussion group, NASW Illinois, within the MyNASW Community. The NASW Illinois community is geared specifically toward the topics and interests of all Illinois members. This new community allows for REAL-TIME discussion of topics relating to social work. The Private Practice SIG Google Group was transitioned to the new community in September 2019, and this month, we are opening up the community to all NASW-Illinois Chapter members. Recent topics included scholarships for graduate-level social work students, meeting with legislators about mental health legislation, referrals for "pet-friendly social workers," billing services, and more.
