October 2023 - East Central District Update

Melissa Box, LCSW, LSOE, LSOTP East Central District Chair

Social Work and Faith: Processing the Discussion

We so appreciated everyone who attended our recent Social Work and Faith panel discussion. It was a fascinating, vulnerable, and honest conversation with a few panelists-social-workers who were gracious enough to share their experiences and perspectives with us. Issues of client autonomy, clinician self-care and boundary-setting, ethical disclosure, and discrimination were all discussed with sensitivity and respect. Special thanks to Naomi Wilansky, Bina Mangattukattil, Katherine Van Horn, and Ira Finkel for their time and courage in participating in the panel, and to Heather Kaloupek for moderating so effectively and empathically. We look forward to seeing you all at our next event (TBA!).
