September 2021 - Northeastern District Update

Jenny Andersen, Northeastern District Chair

Dear Northeastern District Members,

Welcome to September! As many of you know, September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and it’s important to highlight the need for accessible services for trans and nonbinary people of color. The intersection of racism and transphobia can have profoundly impactful consequences, and, as care providers, we can help create spaces to process and hold that trauma. How in your practice are you extending your work to let trans and nonbinary clients of color know you are there? What resources are you extending to all members of our community for accessible, equitable support? September is a wonderful time to reflect on how we’d like to grow inclusion in our practice.

As our licensure renewal approaches, I invite you to join me for a webinar on Ethical Considerations for Interrupting Implicit Bias on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 11:30am to 1:00pm (1.5 CEUs). This interactive presentation will explore implicit bias and give participants research-based interventions to interrupt implicit bias. To register, please visit https://naswil.wufoo.com/forms/43020091721ethical-considerations.

Warmly,

Jenny Andersen
