April 2020 - Three Rivers District Update

Diana Alejandro, Three Rivers District Update

Hello Three Rivers

It seems like a lifetime ago that we were planning Social Work Month and in just a matter of weeks, we found ourselves in a whirlwind of unknowns and changes in the way we live. It goes without saying that your health and safety is the most important thing during this time—both physical and mental. While our new reality is a challenging one, seeing all the great examples of rallying to support each other, practices pivoting to telehealth, and others heading into offices to meet the needs of those who need us the most is not only motivating, it’s a reminder of what makes us social workers. And, it goes without saying that we are generations strong. So with that, please stay safe, take comfort in your family, friends, and new four-legged and junior co-workers.

A Warm Welcome To our New & Renewed Members

Jodie Green, Jessica Jones, Alex Leon, Mary Studer, Carolyn Wahlskog, Ellen Walker

DISTRICT EVENTS

All chapter and district events have been canceled for the foreseeable future. In light of these circumstances, the chapter has been shifting our attention to identifying speakers who would be willing to convert their CEU trainings to a virtual training with the chapter. While we are still learning and mastering the teleconferencing software, the need from our membership is greater than ever. If you have suggestions of presenters in your area or would like to propose a training yourself, please contact me at threerivers.naswil@socialworkers.org

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

DEADLINE: Monday, April 27, 2020

The NASW-Illinois Chapter is still seeking ethics presentations for our fall conference that are creative, interactive, and audience-engaged. We’re searching for dynamic presenters who can lead social workers through discussions and peer-sharing about topics relating to ethics. Presentations can be from 60, 90, or 120 minutes in length and must fulfill IDFPR requirements for ethics education. We want ethics to be fun—as such we are strongly discouraging lecture-only based presentations. Read more here: https://www.naswil.org/post/call-for-proposals-2020-nasw-il-conference
